3 Simple Rules to Rebuild Your Body Confidence

Thermometer - Confidence LevelDo you have body confidence? How would you rate it on a scale of 1 to 10? You may have instantly thought about what your body looks like, but before you pick a number, make sure you understand what I’m really asking.

Think back to when you were a kid. If you were like most kids, you never even thought about limiting how you lived each day based on how you perceived your body. There were no limitations to your activities, your foods, and your adventurous spirit to discover life. You trusted your body to easily take you through the day with 100% confidence. Your metabolism was strong and you were in tune with what your body was telling you. You ate when you were hungry, stopped when you were full, and slept deeply when you were tired.   This level of body confidence rates a 10!

Body confidence is based on your unique relationship with your body and the thoughts and feelings you have about how well it functions. Many of the experiences you’ve had in life have contributed to your level of body confidence and many of them are negative. Illnesses, body aches and pains, poor digestion, accumulation of excess body fat, skin conditions, fatigue, and poor sleep may have begun to erode your body confidence. No matter where you are currently at on the scale, you can increase your rating and regain your body confidence.

Why am I writing about body confidence as a nutritionist? It is body confidence that will propel you toward your health goals and good nutrition is fundamental to help you regain trust with your body. If you don’t believe that the body you live in every day is capable of vibrant health, the journey may be slow and difficult. Every day I work with confident, capable people who no longer trust their bodies. I hear “My metabolism is shot!,” “No matter what I do, I cannot lose weight,” and “What works for others will never work for me.”

While I help people reach measurable goals using nutrition such as reducing body fat, lowering cholesterol, reducing their blood sugar, and improving their digestion, it is the increase in body confidence that gives me reason to celebrate every day. You see, you can do anything that you believe you can do. My role is to give you the knowledge, support and structure you need to rebuild your confidence. That is why I created the Heal Your Metabolism program to reach as many people as I can.

The food you choose is the most important health decision you make every day. Foods directly affect your energy level, your metabolism, your blood lipids, your blood sugar, and your digestion. When your body responds with improved health, your body confidence will begin to rise. Start with these three simple rules to begin rebuilding your body confidence with your food choices.

3 Simple Rules to Rebuild Your Body Confidence

  1. Choose real food – upgrade your diet with foods that are as close to their natural form as possible. (Hint: real foods do not have an ingredient list, they ARE the ingredient).
  2. Increase your plant foods – fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains. Plant foods are rich in health-promoting phytonutrients that are anti-inflammatory and protect your cells.
  3. Eat on a consistent schedule – Food is your fuel! Eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. For most people, this means eating a meal or snack every 3-4 hours.

Fueling your body with nutrient-rich foods will give you a jump start on reaching your health goals. You don’t have to be perfect with your food choices, just persistent! If you are ready to take your body confidence to a 10, start with your food choices. Make it a priority and make a plan for the next 7 days, then the next 7 days, and soon you will be well on your way. If you need a little expert support, I’m here with the knowledge, support and structure to help you get there.
